This limited edition calendar - 600 copies were made this year - is drawn as a series of pen and ink sketches by Colleen Nelson. She and Wendy Saul and a host of friends and neighbors contribute ideas, photographs and time to making each year's calendar a fun, shared project. The calendar is printed on recycled paper and held together with brass fasteners through a strip of hand cut Greene County hardwood and strung for hanging with a piece of jute string. Wendy and Colleen have been making this celebration of all things rural and wonderful in and around Greene County Pennsylvania since 1979.  In the beginning each page was hand screened, then sorted and assembled by a small army of friends who gathered each year for a 'calendar party'.  Now it is printed and coalated by Rhodes and Hammers Printing in Waynesburg, although putting each calendar together is still done by hand. A special thanks to David Huntly, who makes the sticks in his basement woodworking shop from poplar, cherry and occasionally walnut trees from his woodlot. Favorite scenes from the calendar throughout the years are also available as note cards.
